Tranzo Pearl | E-health

We live in a digital society, where many aspects of our lives are heavily influenced by technology. Forms of information and communication technology to make you feel fitter, healthier, more relaxed, or happier are called e-health or digital care. Examples include apps, video calls, and online videos and platforms.

E-health is also being increasingly used in long-term care and is thus increasingly part of the care of people with intellectual disabilities. However, more knowledge is needed about the added value and effectiveness of e-health in order to optimize its use. With several research projects, the Academic Collaborative Center Living with intellectual disability (AWVB)—in collaboration with other parties—aims to contribute to strengthening the scientific foundation regarding working with and implementing e-health in the support and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities.

In 2022, several studies on this theme took place within the AWVB. Such as research on e-health in the support, treatment, and therapy of people with intellectual disabilities. Also, in 2022 AWVB conducted research on the effectiveness of the Client Perspective Weighting Framework and its implementation in care practice. The Wegingskader Cliëntperspectief (Client Perspective Weighting Framework) is an online tool developed by the AWVB that helps care professionals to make a good consideration regarding the use of (involuntary) care.
