Public Health Brabant

2022 was the year that society gradually got back on its feet after the COVID-19 pandemic that lasted more than two years. A pandemic in which the collaboration partners of the Collaborative Center; three Brabant GGDs, Het PON & Telos, and the RIVM were at the heart of the pandemic.

2022 is a year in which a lot has happened for the Collaborative Center (AWPG). Such as:

  • Two symposia: In March, the symposium “Working together in the prevention and care for overweight and obese children. Where are we now with the Child to Healthier Weight approach” prior to Sanne de Laat’s PhD defense. In May, we organized the biannual AWPG symposium. This time the theme was 'Getting better from a pandemic'.

  • Co-organizer of the 5th international Fuse conference in Newcastle. Mariëlle Cloïn also gave a presentation on the research project ‘Not Pregnant Now'.

  • An Academic Collaborative Center-wide meeting on Stop Smoking

  • AWPG roadshow at the three partner GGDs

  • Presentation on AWPG by Ien van de Goor and Mariëlle Cloïn at AJN Brabant refresher course

In addition to these events, several research topics took center stage:

  • Autonomy citizens in approaching integral prevention in focus neighborhoods. Making better use of the health potential of citizens in three Brabant municipalities: Den Bosch, Helmond, Eindhoven was the central focus.

  • Strengthen knowledge and advisory function of GGDs and establish conditions for a national Knowledge Agreement for health promotion and prevention.

  • Research on the factors influencing vaccination resistance, by Mitchell Mathijssen and others.

  • Promoting and impeding factors for professionals to engage with clients about childbearing. This is part of the research projects regarding the Not Pregnant Now program(new window)

  • Solution-focused work in youth health care by Liesbeth Theuns and others.

  • Contributing to evidence-based local health policy based on analysis of existing data by Eline Berkers.

  • Public Health Monitoring in Europe

  • Smoke-Free Sports Grounds for a Smoke-Free Generation by Heike Garritsen external PhD researcher with Ien van de Goor as one of the supervisors. See also the pearl Smoke-Free Sports.
