Tranzo Pearl | The Mentaal Gezonde Zaak

What do employers need to support employees with common mental health problems in retaining employment and how can employment experts contribute to this? That is the central research question in the project The Mentaal Gezonde Zaak on which Suzanne van Hees is conducting her PhD research.

With the project The Mentaal Gezonde Zaak, we are gaining insight into factors in the work situation that contribute to work retention of employees with common psychological complaints. With the input of labor experts, a manual has been developed on suitable work, in which points for attention for managers are described.

In addition to this guide, a supplemental workbook for employment experts has also been developed on how to introduce and implement this handbook with employers.

Properly supporting people with common mental health problems contributes to being able to keep working. Whether fully or partially, being able to maintain a position in the labor market contributes positively to our mental state. Good management is a very important part of this. The research should, therefore, show whether the guideline increases the managers' ability to act.

The societal importance of this topic is also evident from the media attention it has received. In addition to various scientific publications in this field, there have also been interviews and articles in various (professional) journals.
